Up to 3 people for 4 hours for $750, or 6 hours for $1,000. Add $75 per additional person. This is for the "bucket list" fishermen out there; Do you have what it takes? Not recommended for young children- Feel free to bring them with us though! Goliath Grouper that we hook into can be in excess of 350 pounds at times. This is a real battle and usually requires some assistance from another angler or the captain. Clients often think they've hooked the bottom when in fact the fight is on! It quickly turns to a who's-got-who situation!

Catch and Release Under FWC Rules
Goliath grouper were fully protected in Florida for more than 30 years, and the population has rebuilt enough that FWC now allows a very limited, permit-only harvest in state waters. Up to 200 harvest permits are awarded each year by random-draw lottery, with a March 1 to May 31 season, a 24- to 36-inch slot limit and one fish per permit holder. Harvest is still prohibited in federal waters. Without that permit and tag, every Goliath must be released. On our charters, every Goliath is catch and release. We keep the fish in the water for photos, and let it swim off healthy.

Where We Fish for Goliath Grouper
Goliaths live around structure, so thatâs where we fish. Close to home, the bridges and pilings of the Sanibel Causeway and the passes between the islands, like Redfish Pass and Blind Pass, hold big fish, and they let us fish even when the wind is up. When the weather allows, we run out into the Gulf to near-shore wrecks and reefs, where some of the largest fish live. If conditions arenât ideal for the Gulf, we can still find Goliaths near the passes and bridges. Capt. Cliff picks the spot each day based on tide, wind and season.

All bait, heavy tackle and fishing licenses are included. These fish can top 350 pounds, so the fight usually takes some teamwork between anglers and the captain. Goliath trips are not recommended for young children, though theyâre welcome to come along and watch.
Pickup at Jensenâs Marina on Captiva
Trips leave from Jensenâs Marina, 15107 Captiva Dr, Captiva, FL 33924. From there itâs a short run to Pine Island Sound, Redfish Pass and the Gulf.
